Director, IT Project Manager

The IT Project Manager is responsible for driving the successful execution of IT initiatives across infrastructure, systems, and operations. This role coordinates cross-functional teams, ensures projects are delivered on time and within scope, and fosters collaboration between technology and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate has experience leading both strategic and operational IT projects in a dynamic environment.

Primary Management & Delivery

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute IT projects across infrastructure upgrades, SaaS implementations, acquisition integrations, and enterprise tooling rollouts.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and milestone tracking.
  • Facilitate recurring stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and cross-functional coordination meetings as needed.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the central point of contact for IT project updates and escalations.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and mitigation plans to internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Translate technical details into clear, actionable updates for non-technical stakeholders.

Process & Documentation

  • Define and maintain project documentation, including charters, scopes, timelines, and risk registers.
  • Partner with IT leadership to prioritize initiatives, maintain a live roadmap, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Contribute to post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement processes.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify project risks early and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
  • Track blockers and facilitate resolution by aligning the right resources or decision-makers.
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, and operational readiness requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate across IT sub-teams (infrastructure, cybersecurity, application support, help desk) as well as with HR, Legal, and Facilities when projects span multiple departments.
  • Support planning for user communication, training, and change management where needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience managing technical projects in IT, infrastructure, SaaS, or security environments.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent certifications are a plus.
  • Strong grasp of IT systems (e.g., identity management, device management, cloud services, enterprise software).
  • Experience with project tools like Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, or Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, Agile methodologies, or hybrid delivery models.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party implementation partners.
  • Passion for creating scalable, well-documented, and repeatable processes.
