JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Director of Wellness Center, the Health Screening RN is responsible for executing community health screening programs that further EMH’s Mission and Vision of measurable improving the health of the community. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As needed, provides direction to Health Screening Techs, students & volunteers. Helps to ensure students & volunteers follow the standards of practice for their assigned service.
- Teaches principles and techniques of all procedures to Health Screening Techs, students and volunteers, as needed.
- Provides counseling to health screening participants based up evidence based practice standards and materials.
- Focuses on helping health screening participants set one goal related to their health.
- Knowledgeable in norm values for screening tests and causes of variation.
- Maintains clinical competency on all departmental equipment including how to set up, operate, clean, trouble shoot and interpret results.
- Willing and able to work any health screening station, if needed.
- Follows universal precautions.
- Completes all documentation.
- Follows department and Organizational policies and guidelines.
- Assures that the work environment is safe.
- Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.
- Contributes to the effective operations of the organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance.
- Able to discuss the strategic link between the role of Health Screening RN and the strategic objectives of the department and Organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Will work in various environments where health screening services are provided, may involve evening and weekend work. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently. Interaction with clients is essential and may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, disease and infection.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
Frequent contact with community and business leaders, EMH Associates, and the general public.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS:
Will receive on-the-job training in use of screening equipment and counseling standards.
QualificationsPrevious two (2) years’ experience with health promotion counseling and obtaining blood samples via finger stick preferred.
