Job Title: Facilities Engineering Associate
Reports To: Facilities Engineer
Department: Operations
Summary: Provides technical assistance to Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations in a manufacturing environment. Assists in various engineering tasks associated with production, design, process optimization, and procurement of equipment and production materials.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains and monitors functioning of existing production / process equipment, troubleshooting processes issues and collaborating with maintenance and production teams to correct and reduce risk of reoccurrence.
Develops and/or implements process modification to overall improve efficiency, reliability and quality of the various production processes.
Assists Maintenance Staff and/or other appropriate leadership with programs, activities and general responsibilities of the maintenance department. Procure spare parts and services as required.
Performs and assists in troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems. This involves communication with original equipment manufacturers to facilitate optimized corrective action plan to minimize downtime.
Analyzes processes and reliability data to help identify opportunities for improvement throughout operation.
Strong understanding of Emaint CMMS system to plan and record equipment repair / upgrade activities.
Manages small improvement projects, acting as contractor interface, and responsible for Design and Startup Safety reviews. Ensures high quality service standards are met for all phases of project. Maintains safety for each project in accordance with approved safety rules and regulations to include conducting safety inspections.
Assists in GMP compliance.

- Skill in reading and interpreting plans and specifications and to compare them with project progress.
- Prior use of CAD for equipment / process design activities.
- Strong organization and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to implement practical yet effective process modification.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering from four-year college or university, or 5-10 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Mechanical Engineer degree preferred.
Language Ability:
Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to individuals and/or groups at all levels of an organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals at all organizational levels. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis. Knowledge of math & engineering theory.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, CAD, inventory/database software and the internet. Necessary skills include; contact management systems, database software, design software, spreadsheet, word processing, and CMMS software.
