Job Summary:
On-Site Role
The Engine Field Service Technician – Level II is responsible for diagnosing and completing less complex engine repairs at customer locations. The role involves applying technical knowledge, using specialized tools, and maintaining high customer service standards. This position contributes to maintaining Cummins' quality of service and ensures compliance with all safety and documentation requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics and repair of less complex engine issues at the customer site using Cummins tools and procedures.
- Engage with customers professionally, ensuring prompt and effective service.
- Identify and prepare necessary parts and tools for repair tasks.
- Carry out preventative maintenance activities on engines and related components according to established schedules.
- Escalate unresolved technical issues to senior Field Service Technicians or supervisors.
- Complete service documentation such as worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality reports accurately.
- Recognize and communicate additional service opportunities to customers.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of service vehicles and tools.
- Comply with all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and report incidents appropriately.
- Support aftermarket service for CCCs and Authorized Service Centers (ASC), including training, audits, and warranty handling.
- Maintain a service database and provide regular reporting of service and support activities.

Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
- Vocational Diploma in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or related technical field.
- Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
- Valid local driving license (mandatory).
- May require specific licenses for compliance with export or regulatory requirements.
Skills and Experience:
- Basic to intermediate field service experience with engine products.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting engines and aftertreatment systems at vehicle level.
- Hands-on experience with electronic service tools like INSITE.
- Ability to analyze failures in turbochargers, dosing systems, and fuel systems.
- Experience in handling warranty cases and managing warranty disposition.
- Ability to organize and conduct technical training for OEMs and service centers.
- Familiarity with gensets, construction equipment, and on-vehicle diagnostics.
- Experience in conducting service audits and ensuring corrective actions.
- Skilled in maintaining service databases and generating service support reports.
Work Environment:
- Field-based role involving travel to customer sites.
- Use of diagnostic tools, safety equipment, and compliance with environmental standards.
- Occasional physical tasks such as lifting tools or engine components may be required.
