The Maintenance Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician/Automation will serve our Water Heating Division, located in Montgomery, AL.

  • Perform multi-craft tasks associated with in-plant maintenance.
  • Read and interpret shop prints, schematics and electrical blueprints.
  • Work from written or verbal orders, including sketches or diagrams.
  • Locate the source of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Identify the tools, equipment, and skills used in industrial plumbing, and pipefitting. Understand DC and AC principles and components including motors, controllers, and PLC's.
  • Perform tasks associated with complex electrical/electronic equipment such as PLC’s and ladder logic, Robotics, 3 phase wiring, 480v motor drives, servo motors, AC/DC drivers, and inverters
  • Use applicable electrical test equipment such as: volt meters, amp meters, ohm meters.
  • Install and test electrical wires, circuits, and equipment using the correct equipment, materials, and procedures for safe operation.
  • Handle preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures and schedule equipment downtime as required.
  • Maintain parts and materials inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipated needed parts and materials, requesting restocking and expediting orders, verifying the receipt of parts and materials.
  • Calculate and design power requirements for new power feed installations to new process equipment or facilities. Incumbent must determine size and appropriate ratings of transformers, wire, conduit, circuit protection and grounding systems, which complies with national electrical codes
  • Maintain and update any changes to current single line electrical diagrams, panel drawings, or distribution centers labeling, and systems loads. Makes recommendations to management for changes or adjustments to the power systems
  • Develop and assist in implementation of electrical preventative maintenance program. Identify critical equipment and its electrical components and initiate predictive programs to replace worn equipment prior to failure to reduce downtime to the operations
  • Develop improvements of special hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical equipment. After design, monitors and controls fabrication progress, establishes estimates of time, material and labor costs on projects submitted.  Project management methods and reports are used to monitor the projects
  • Use required skills, equipment, and material to drill, weld, and machine metal to make repairs.
  • Identify, describe, remove, replace, install, and maintain common types of bearings and seals.
  • Enhance equipment performance by installing modifications, making adjustments and recommending improvements.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices required by Company, federal and state guidelines.
  • Practice and support Rheem values with internal as well as external customers.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, and reviewing technical publications.
  • May be exposed to high noise levels and almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, extreme temperatures, and potentially biohazardous materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must have a minimum of 5-years Industrial Maintenance work experience and electrical/electronics and mechanical related work experience in a manufacturing production environment.
  • Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology preferred.
  • Must have a working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and the procedures and processes used to install or repair the equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC and HMI/MMI programming, preferred
  • Must understand and be able to use a personal computer equipped with Microsoft Office and Maintenance software.
  • Must be able to use and explain the use of various hand tools, power tools and measuring devices such as: Calipers, Micrometers, Multi-Meter, and standard Measuring instruments.
  • Must have direct work experience with mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems and tasks that involve but not limited to; mechanical transmission, directional valves, pneumatic & hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic power units, bearings, pumps, conveyors, 
  • Must be familiar with applicable OSHA standards and requirements.

  • Must have completed Master Mechanic and Master Electrician Checklist and Panel Review.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and associated lift equipment.
  • Considerable physical activity, frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 60 lbs.
  • Requires ability to work constantly in awkward and unsupported body positions.
