Position Summary:
This role provides functional guidance to support staff and performs the duties of a Registration Specialist in alignment with organizational standards. The individual will oversee patient flow from entry to destination, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional service.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and verify financial and demographic information to ensure accurate records and optimal reimbursement.
Schedule appointments and conduct patient interviews to gather medical information.
Explain departmental and hospital charges and policies.
Validate and enter charges into appropriate systems; collect necessary payments.
Answer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriately.
Precept current Registration Specialist team members as requested by leadership.
Perform higher-level functions as defined by clinic management.
Participate in annual Rapid Improvement Events and/or Quality Improvement projects.
Conduct monthly rounding.
Coach, mentor, and develop the Registration team.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
Coding experience preferred.
CMAA certification required.
Note: Current Team Leads will be prioritized for certification exam cohorts and must achieve certification within one year of career ladder implementation.
Successful completion of the Foundations of Leadership program within 6 months of assuming the role, or participation in the Emerging Leaders program.
Failure to achieve certification may result in a move to the appropriate Registration Specialist role with the potential of a pay decrease.
