Key Account Manager (KAM) – Public Safety

Do you want to accelerate your career in Sales? Do you want to be a driving force in shaping market strategies and building relationships with key customers? Then we have the ideal job for you!

We are looking for our next colleague within Key Account Management to focus on the growing market opportunities related to Public Safety. The Key Account Manager – Public Safety at Milestone plays a pivotal role within our organization, primarily focusing on building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders in centralized (city) and decentralized (city/county/state) public safety departments. These departments are focused on ensuring the protection of people and their property from harm, crime, and disaster. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from identifying and progressing opportunities to maintaining and growing our portfolio of large, active end-customer accounts. The Key Account Manager – Public Safety ensures exceptional service delivery, expands our service offerings, and drives revenue growth. The role is characterized by a blend of "Hunting" to build the portfolio and "Farming" to strengthen existing relationships.

When joining Milestone, you can look forward to being part of a company with an impressive growth history and an embracing, second-to-none People-First Culture.

Your main responsibility will be:

  • Responsible for identifying new opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and driving revenue growth
  • Prospect and develop new customers in the public safety sector, including city and state-run buildings & campuses, law enforcement departments (nothing in Federal scope), fire departments, emergency service agencies, corrections, and transportation agencies
  • Conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations to potential clients
  • Negotiate contracts and close sales with key stakeholders and decision influencers at city/state public safety departments
  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing customers through upselling and multi-line development of services
  • Achieve assigned sales targets and outcomes within the specified timeline
  • Collaborate with the sales team and other departments to develop effective sales strategies
  • Analyze market potential in the assigned territory and track sales progress
  • Attend industry meetings, trade shows, and networking events relevant to the public safety sector

What you’ll do on a day-to-day basis:

  • Approach end customers in the assigned region directly to identify and advance opportunities
  • Facilitate final negotiations and transition deals back to the channel
  • Take ownership of a portfolio of large, active end-customer accounts
  • Aggressively prospect for new clients and motivate slow-growing accounts within the Fortune 1000 client base in the North Central US geography.
  • Maintain and nurture client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and trust
  • Strategically balance and expand the portfolio as required
  • Embrace a proactive "Hunting" approach when building the client portfolio
  • Implement a "Farming" approach to strengthen and grow existing client relationships
  • Conduct partner account planning prioritization
  • Help partners diagnose business issues (identify needs, pains, causes, and cost of doing business today, timeframe, budget)
  • Build preliminary proposals, including pricing and quotes
  • Support in presenting and reviewing the final solution

What we imagine the ideal candidate profile to look like:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not strictly necessary
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales experience, preferably with channel sales
  • Tenured experience in city/county/state government operations with knowledge of centralized and decentralized public safety models
  • Sales experience with technical surveillance and access solutions addressing complex deployment and integration challenges
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
