Position: IT Monitoring Engineer

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated IT Monitoring Engineer with APM experience to join our IT operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and optimizing monitoring solutions with a strong focus on application performance. You will help ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of business-critical applications and infrastructure through proactive monitoring, analytics, and alerting.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure and application monitoring tools and dashboards.
Deploy and manage Application Performance Monitoring (APM) solutions (Dynatrace)
Monitor application health and performance metrics, including latency, throughput, error rates, and transaction traces
Collaborate with development, DevOps, and operations teams to instrument applications and services for end-to-end observability
Analyze performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and potential issues before they impact end users
Define thresholds and configure alerting to ensure actionable insights with minimal false positives
Respond to and investigate alerts, performance degradations, and outages
Automate monitoring tasks and integrate alerts into incident management platforms (PagerDuty, ServiceNow)
Document monitoring solutions, standards, runbooks, and troubleshooting procedures
Assist with root cause analysis and performance tuning for mission-critical systems
Define and lead incident management processes related to diagnosis, triage, problem solving and root cause analysis, with follow up reporting through resolution

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or operations with a focus on monitoring and performance
2+ years of hands-on experience with APM tools (Dynatrace)
Solid understanding of distributed systems, cloud architecture (AWS, Azure), and microservices
Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (Nagios)
Proficient in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation and integration tasks
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Skills:

Familiarity with logging and observability stacks (e.g., Splunk, AlienVault)
Experience with additional monitoring solutions (e.g., New Relic, AppDynamics, Datadog, Elastic APM, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana)
Knowledge of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and service mesh technologies
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and instrumentation best practices
Certifications related to monitoring platforms or cloud technologies
