The Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting the company's tax compliance and reporting obligations in Mexico, with a primary focus on Direct Taxes at the federal, and international levels. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Mexican tax law, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns, including ISR (Income Tax), IVA (Value Added Tax), and payroll tax returns
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and compliance with all tax deadlines
- Stay up-to-date on changes in Mexican tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company
- Income Tax (ISR):
- Oversee the calculation of taxable income and the determination of deductible expenses, annual tax provision process, including the calculation of current and deferred income taxes
- Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and documentation requirements
- Monitor and analyze changes in ISR law and regulations
- Value Added Tax (IVA):
- IVA compliance process, ensure accurate and timely filing of IVA returns and compliance with all IVA regulations
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the company's IVA position
- Monitor and analyze changes in IVA law and regulations
- Tax Reporting and Accounting:
- Prepare tax-related financial statement disclosures in accordance with Mexican GAAP and US GAAP
- Maintain accurate and complete tax records and documentation
- Reconcile tax accounts and resolve any discrepancies
- Support internal and external audits of the company's tax function
- Tax accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely recording of tax-related transactions
- Tax Audits & Controversy:
- Prepare responses to tax inquiries and information request
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Master's degree in Taxation preferred
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tax accounting, tax compliance,, with a focus on Mexican tax law
- Other Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong ethical standards and integrity
- Language:
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is required (written and spoken)
