Full Time
- Work closely with the Director of External and Government Relations to implement and manage a written content strategy and provide leadership capacity in collaboration with other units within the College.
- Develop and pitch ideas that align with Flagler College brand drivers for feature stories and alumni and student profiles.
- Write clear, compelling, and accurate copy for various platforms and materials, including news releases, feature stories, website content, internal communications, and presidential messages.
- Cover key campus events, including guest lectures, academic ceremonies, arts productions, etc.
- Edit and review written content from campus partners and other departments to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to brand/style guidelines.
- Produce press and external stakeholder-oriented student achievement content through Merit Pages software.
- Write, design, edit, produce, and distribute electronic newsletters.
- Supervise work-study student staff and interns by assigning them projects, tracking their progress, editing their work, and guiding them in interview best practices.
- Maintain a content calendar and provide regular updates on project progress.
- Monitor content performance analytics and stakeholder feedback to inform strategy.
- Collaborate closely with other MarCom team members (Social Media Manager, Marketing Coordinator, Videographer, and Graphic Designer) on integrated projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, English, strategic communications, marketing, or related field
- Proven experience in writing, reporting, and editing for various platforms (news, features, web, internal communications). A portfolio showcasing writing samples is required.
- Exceptional writing, grammar, and self-editing skills, with strong knowledge of AP style.
- Ability to conduct effective interviews with varied individuals.
- High degree of flexibility and adaptability in writing style and approach based on project needs and feedback.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and build relationships across campus.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently, take initiative, and clarify project details as needed to execute strategic objectives.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; adept at identifying and resolving problems efficiently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in higher education communications or a related field.
- Experience using email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp).
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop for basic-to-intermediate image editing.
- Experience using content management systems (CMS)
- Experience with public relations tools (e.g., Merit Pages, Meltwater).
