SUMMARY OF POSITION: As a Product Quality Engineer at US Conec, you will play a critical role in driving product excellence across the lifecycle of precision-engineered components and assemblies. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving quality standards, processes, and documentation for molded and assembled products. Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers, you will apply technical expertise in dimensional inspection, process validation, and root cause analysis to ensure our products meet stringent performance and reliability standards. Your contributions will directly support US Conec’s commitment to delivering world-class interconnect solutions.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):
- Develop and maintain automated dimensional inspection programs for molded and purchased components.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to design, qualify, and implement 3D-printed fixtures used in inspection and assembly processes.
- Lead Engineering Test Run Evaluations (TREs) for new and existing products, documenting results and driving data-based quality decisions.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Process Instructions, and Work Instructions for manufacturing and quality operations.
- Support the closure of quality deviations by facilitating cross-functional root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Apply statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC) to identify trends and eliminate sources of product variation.
- Review Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to ensure seamless integration of design and process changes into production and inspection workflows.
- Assist with Supplier Evaluation and Selection by assessing their overall capabilities, QMS, and processes
- Manage overall Supplier Quality by collaborating with Suppliers to drive Continuous Improvement within their Quality Management Systems
- Create and manage comprehensive quality documentation including inspection reports, test data, and process capability studies.
EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 2-4 years of experience in quality engineering or a similar role is preferred.
- Experience with automated inspection and precision metrology equipment
- Proficiency in Problem-Solving Methodologies such as Statistical Process Control, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), DMAIC
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Working knowledge or certification in ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate complex engineering drawings and technical data
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel (statistical tools), Word, and Outlook
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines, in a fast-paced environment
- Roughly 10% travel is required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires regular standing, walking, handling small components, and visual inspection. The employee must occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity for close inspection work and color differentiation is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The role is performed in a combined office and manufacturing environment. Exposure to manufacturing equipment, inspection labs, and occasional cleanroom areas is expected.
