Server (Santa Fe)

Description

The most critical role of the Server is to anticipate guests’ needs and fulfill them, managing the table, the meal, and the guest experience to the highest level of quality and service. The Server works in the front of the house preparing tables, describing menu items and responding to questions, eliciting information as to guests’ special dietary needs, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and removing dinnerware from the table in a timely and gracious manner. The Server works in close collaboration with other restaurant staff, follows established health and safety standards, and strives to provide a memorable dining experience. Responsibilities

1. Helps guests select food and beverages by presenting menu, suggesting courses, explaining the chef's specialties, identifying appropriate wines, anticipating and answering food preparation questions and paying special attention to guests’ dietary requirements. 
2. Ensures that the correct order is delivered to the guest in a timely manner, paying particular attention to orders with special dietary requirements. 
3. Transmits orders to bar and kitchen by recording guests' choices, identifying guests' special dietary needs and any special requests. 
4. Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression. 
5. Serves orders by picking up and delivering guests' choices from the kitchen, delivering accompaniments and condiments from service areas in a quick, efficient and professional manner.
6. Proactively responds to additional guest requirements by closely monitoring the dining process and inquiring as to guests’ needs. 
7. Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, being alert to guest spills or other issues. 
8. Collects revenues by totaling charges, issuing bill, accepting payment, delivering bill and payment and returning change or credit card and signature slip to guests as per established revenue handling policies. 
9. Prepares dining room, space and tables by setting tables, decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, utensils, etc. 
10. Cleans dining room, spaces and tables, e.g. vacuums, wipes, washes, dusts, etc. 
11. Adheres to sanitation and safety policies. 
12. Adheres to alcoholic beverage control policies and regulations. Maintains a valid New Mexico Alcohol Server Permit and stores it on person, in purse or in locker when working.

Qualifications

1. Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
2. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, sit, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and push/pull/lift items weighing (PLEASE SPECIFY for example 40) pounds or more. 
3. This role requires the ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, auditory focus, and visual attention.
4. Minimum three years of experience as a server, preferably in hospitality, fine dining, and/or a farm-to-table environment. 
5. High school diploma (or equivalent). 
6. Valid New Mexico Alcohol Server Permit is required before hire. 
7. Punctuality and reliability are critical. 
8. Ability to work proactively to ensure the best possible guest experience. 
9. Ability to work evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays required. 
10. Ability to work effectively in an environment where the pace may vary. 
11. Ability to stand for eight or more hours per day, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push and pull items weighing up to 40 pounds. 
12. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures; and the ability to write neatly in English.
