Job Description
Are you ready to bring your digital expertise into the world of Project Controls? We’re looking for a Project Controls Specialist with substantial cost estimating experience to join our Energy & Natural Resources team in Perth, supporting major clients across oil and gas projects in both greenfield and brownfield environments. This role blends traditional project controls with modern digital tools, offering the chance to work on high-impact projects while shaping the future of project delivery for our clients.
What You’ll Do:
- Preparation of capital cost estimates to meet industry standard estimate classification guidelines
- Application and efficient utilisation of approved work breakdown and cost breakdown structures
- Support key tendering activities, including preparation of pre-tender estimates,
- Analysis of project change and the provision of feedback on areas of risk and opportunities and ability to conduct cost risk analysis for various class of estimates
- Working collaboratively and seamlessly with all other key project and program functions such as; cost control, risk, contract and planning teams
- Analyse and assess costs and estimates provided by suppliers and contractors
- Providing process and technical estimating support production of feasibility studies
- Provide estimating support to manage project budget and scope (Value Engineering)
- Support project audits and reporting cycles, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
- Lead use of client and other reporting systems, including digital reporting solutions using tools like Power BI to deliver actionable insights
- Operate within platforms such as CMS, EcoSys, Acconex, PRISM, and contribute to WBS development and earned value analysis
Qualifications
To be successful in your application, we're looking for the following:
- Must be in Australia and full working rights.
- Good understanding of first principles estimating in the energy and natural resources sector, specifically both onshore & offshore in the Oil & Gas Industry.
- Experience in quantity takeoff internal teams and external clients to ensure alignment and value delivery.
- Benchmark analysis experience
- A recognised Degree Qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, MRICS / AIQS accreditation or other relevant qualification is ideal
- At least 5-10 years relevant estimating work experience
- Relevant sector experience – preferably in Natural resources
- Proficient in the use of CostX, Unifer, Ecosys, PRISM, Candy or other equivalent tools
- Proficient in the use of Excel
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
- Team player with the ability to work autonomously
- Excellent command of written and spoken English with report writing skills
- High motivation and passion, showing a clear ability to deliver great outcomes for clients.
