Job Description
The Junior Administrator, Infrastructure Core & Solutions assists with the technical delivery of entry level day-to-day operations & tasks that relate to the network & system infrastructure of Michener. This role is responsible for Tier 1 Network & Infrastructure requests, network & infrastructure monitoring, initial response to security issues, and daily system monitoring among other duties as needed. This role assists with infrastructure projects and execution of those projects. This role is also cross-trained for absence coverage with the Administrator, Infrastructure Core & Solutions role. This role reports to the Lead, Infrastructure Core & Solutions who provides guidance and direction on the day-to-day work assignments and projects as it pertains to systems administration and networking.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews all incoming Infrastructure Team tickets, performs initial contact and triages out to the appropriate parties within their team
- Completes Tier 1 Network & Infrastructure requests, including network drops in rooms, minor port and switch configuration changes, IP reservations, deploying new VMs based on preconfigured templates, minor VM configuration changes, and troubleshooting basic network and systems issues
- Performs daily system monitoring including verifying of the integrity and availability of network, hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs
- Assists with execution of projects related to IT infrastructure including physical deployment of hardware, configuration and deployment of new hardware, procurement activities, research and investigation into technical solutions
- Provides initial response and escalation if needed for security alerts from UHN SOC, Microsoft Alerts and application and service vendors
- Must be able to work occasional evenings, weekends and/or holidays, as coverage is required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a Junior Network and/or Junior Systems Administrator or higher role.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Networking, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent experience
- Cisco CCNA is a requirement
- Strong familiarity with Cisco IOS, general networking, VM configuration
- Basic familiarity with DNS, DHCP, Antivirus, LAN/WAN, and SAN equipment
- Basic familiarity with Windows Server Management, Active Directory structure, VoIP, Networking, Exchange, Scripting, PowerShell
- Awareness of VMWare, CommVault, or similar virtualization & backup systems
- Research, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
- Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance document required upon hire
