Position Summary
The Program Director, HRIS & Workforce Management System Implementation (Workday & UKG) is an experienced, expert consultant responsible for guiding and managing a highly complex enterprise-wide technology implementation program. This role leads the organization’s implementation resources and partners with the 3rd party System Implementer to ensure the successful deployment of Workday HCM and Payroll and UKG Pro Workforce Management platforms. The Program Director is responsible for ensuring achievement of budget goals, timelines, functionality objectives, and change management and UX requirements.
Duties
- Program Leadership
- Provide expert technical and program management leadership for the implementation of Workday HCM and Payroll and UKG Workforce Management.
- Manage and report on program budgets, timelines, resource planning, and vendor management to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Lead the preparation of reports to both Steering Committee and Board of Directors.
- Manage a multi-disciplinary team of internal dedicated resources and subject matter experts engaged in program delivery, and represent the organization’s interests while partnering with the SI on program delivery.
- Enterprise System Implementation & Optimization
- Ensure effective coordination and oversight of UHN resources throughout the implementation process, keeping the System Integrator (SI) aligned with the established methodology, scope, and timeline.
- Proactively manage configuration and testing activities, support issue resolution, and facilitate collaboration to overcome implementation challenges.
- Oversee data migration, system integrations, and architecture alignment with enterprise systems (e.g., payroll, AD, benefits, finance).
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements that drive automation, efficiency, and self-service adoption.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert between business leaders, HR functional teams, and technical stakeholders to ensure alignment of system capabilities with operational needs.
- Lead project governance, including steering committees, executive reporting, and stakeholder alignment across HR, IT, Finance, PMO, etc.
- Ensures effective enterprise-wide change management initiatives, including communication strategies, training programs, and adoption planning.
- Creates content and participates in delivery of executive briefings and stakeholder workshops to ensure transparency, engagement, and readiness throughout the program lifecycle.
- Vendor Management & Strategic Partnerships
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal partners/key resources, System Integrator and vendors, managing relationships to ensure alignment with program goals and service expectations.
- Oversee performance monitoring, ensuring adherence to SLAs, budgets, and timelines.
- Collaborate with vendors on system enhancements, issue resolution, and roadmap planning to ensure long-term platform value.
- Conduct regular vendor reviews and escalate issues as needed to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Progressive experience in multiple enterprise-wide HRIS and workforce management system implementations, preferably with Workday HCM & Payroll and UKG Pro platforms.
- 10+ years experience managing large-scale, complex technology implementation programs in complex, multi-site environments, including resource planning, timeline management, and risk mitigation.
- Deep understanding of HR operations, payroll, timekeeping, scheduling, and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of HRIS architectures, integrations (e.g., payroll, finance, Active Directory, benefits, Talent Acquisition, etc.), data migration strategies, and system configuration/testing.
- Ability to lead enterprise-wide change initiatives, including communication strategies, training development, stakeholder engagement, and adoption planning.
- Ability to lead enterprise-wide digital transformation and change initiatives, including communication strategies, training development, stakeholder engagement, and adoption planning.
- Experience collaborating with third-party system integrators, vendors, and cross-functional internal teams to align goals, manage SLAs, and resolve issues.
- Track record of creative solutions to implementation challenges, simplifying integration architectures, and identifying automation opportunities.
- Experience in healthcare, unionized or public sector environments considered an asset.
