Job Title: Accounting Manager
Location: 2400 Skymark Ave, Mississauga, Ontario
Department: Finance
Reports to: Financial Controller
Status: Permanent Full-time
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including AP, AR, GL and reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, for leadership team, stakeholders and funding agencies ensuring accuracy and high attention to detail.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist with budget preparation and financial planning.
- Coordinate audits and tax filings with external auditors and consultants
- Assist with the development of financial strategies for the organization in conjunction with the leadership team to streamline financial operations and reporting, improve programs/services and reduce costs.
- Involved in financial forecast/planning; collaborating with the management team and to address financial issues, risks, and opportunities, providing analysis, evaluation and recommendations.
- Ensuring accurate inventory valuations and performing inventory cost analysis.
- Prepare and maintain reconciliations for inventory accounts.
- Performs other responsibilities to support the Financial Controller and other departments.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with ERP systems an asset
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all stakeholders including senior leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, forecasts, reconciliations, accounting and financial reporting functions of a department.
- Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable departments with a strong understanding of accounting and financial concepts surrounding Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable reporting and internal controls.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver on competing deadlines a strong ability to stay organized.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service and experience managing and resolving escalations in an effective and efficient manner.
- Excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem-solving skills, change oriented.
- Strong MS Office skills: Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
- Integrated procure-to-pay ERP system environment experience; knowledge of Sage would be an asset.
- Outstanding organizational and time managements skills including ability to prioritize workload, manage unexpected occurrences and manage deadlines
- Experience working with Federal funding agencies and preparing monthly/quarterly reports
- Experience preparing and filing Statistics Canada reports
Education:
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or equivalent required/preferred.
