This position provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Coding team by providing a positive and team oriented environment for all employees. This person works directly with other Supervisors/Managers to address and correct problems as they occur on a day to day basis. This position is responsible for developing process improvements and ensuring that these improvements are implemented across the entire department or throughout the revenue cycle. This position is responsible for ensuring that all coding is accurate, compliant, and timely.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Job Duties include the following, other duties may be assigned:
• Manage and oversee the activities of the coding department by maintaining/ promoting a positive team oriented environment. Provide Leadership and guidance to staff in a goal setting, problem solving, resource management and outcome achievement way.
• Manage staff to include: recruiting, hiring, staff development, orientation, timely performance evaluation management, and competence. Communicates with senior leadership regarding employees status of various areas
• Trains and/or supervises the training of all new employees making sure that we give them the tools to do their job efficiently and effectively. Defines performance objectives and productivity metrics for the department and assesses the level of competence of staff in a timely manner
• Counsel and discipline employees when necessary and consistently and fairly administers Human Resources and other policies to build credibility and trust of staff as well as compliance with applicable laws
• Assist in planning and organizing work schedules based on work volume when determining approval of PTO requests. Ensure that payroll records of employees are accurate and completed in time for Finance to process payroll.
• Serves as back up for other leaders who are absent.
• Listen to all employee concerns and ideas. Respond quickly, accurately, and accordingly in a professional manner. Treat employee conversations as confidential.
• Serves as member of designated Compliance Committees and/or Revenue Cycle Committees.
• Ensures that all organizational reporting is submitted timely.
• Assist in obtaining or maintaining established goals: including but not limited to coding days, Pre-A/R, coding accuracy. Prepare reports for leadership, monitor key indicators, and develop action plans for process improvements that are needed throughout the revenue cycle.
• This position is responsible for ensuring that all coding is accurate, compliant, and timely. Ensures quality, safety, and compliance assessment systems are in place for areas of supervision and promotes continuous improvement initiatives. Establishes internal control procedures for the department.
• Assist in the reduction or elimination of variable expenses within the department.
• Establish and maintain policies and procedures in the specified areas are up-to-date and followed by staff.
• Participate in professional development activities to keep current with HRS issues as well as health care trends and regulations.
• Demonstrates the ability to cope and manage change and stressful situations, as well as help others do the same.
• Monitor outsourcing and vendor performance and work with senior management to implement necessary action if performance drops below standards.
