POSITION OVERVIEW:

Based in Houston Texas, the Director of Quality for Manufacturing Operations will ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards by overseeing quality processes, managing teams, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quality within a manufacturing environment, along with a strong understanding of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement methodologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

Team Leadership: Lead and manage multi-site manufacturing quality teams, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to maximize effectiveness.

Budget Management: Manage the Manufacturing Quality department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.

STRATEGY AND IMPROVEMENT

Manufacturing Operations Quality Strategy: Develop and implement quality strategies to maintain the highest standards across all manufacturing sites and production lines.

Goal Setting and Improvement: Set departmental goals, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.

Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in manufacturing processes using Six Sigma, Lean, or other methodologies.

COMPLIANCE AND STANDARDS

Quality Management System: Oversee the implementation and management of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, FDA, GMP).

Documentation Compliance: Ensure all quality processes are documented and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Certification Maintenance: Ensure all necessary certifications and quality records are maintained and updated.

COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION

Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with production, engineering, and R&D teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction.

Interdepartmental Support: Collaborate with operations, production, supply chain, and engineering to support quality-driven processes and consistency in quality.

Communication Liaison: Act as a liaison between the quality department and other functions to ensure clear communication regarding quality goals.

QUALITY ASSURANCE AND TESTING

Standards Development: Develop and maintain quality standards and specifications for all products and processes.

Testing Protocols: Oversee the development and execution of testing protocols for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.

Customer and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products meet internal and external customer expectations and regulatory requirements through effective inspection and testing programs.

DATA MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING

Data Analysis: Analyze quality data to identify trends and implement corrective actions for quality issues.

Non-Conformance Management: Implement and maintain systems to track and resolve product quality issues; lead internal and external audits for compliance.

Reporting: Prepare and present quality reports and audit findings to senior management and regulatory bodies.

Investment and Resources

Investment Recommendations: Evaluate and recommend investments in new quality tools and technologies to enhance efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Quality within the manufacturing industry, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.

Proven experience in implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS) and leading audits (ISO, FDA, GMP, etc.).

Six Sigma / Lean Certification

SKILLS:

Manufacturing Expertise: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality assurance methodologies, and industry standards.

Process Improvement: Strong familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean, and other process improvement methodologies.

Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.

Quality Proficiency: Proficient in quality tools and techniques, including statistical analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
