Job Description:

In this position as an Accountant, you will provide comprehensive financial analysis and general ledger support to a federal agency accounting team. This role requires a deep understanding of federal accounting principles and reporting standards. In this position, you will also:

  • Investigate financial abnormalities, identify root causes, and recommend solutions that meet audit standards.
  • Support monthly trading partner reconciliations and variance explanations.
  • Monitor GTAS edits, prepare adjusting entries, and analyze monthly adjustments for systemic issues.
  • Review and enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve clarity and efficiency across financial functions.
  • Assist in monthly reconciliation efforts and support enhancement of accounts receivable loss allowance methodologies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 5 years of federal accounting experience.
  • 2 years of experience with federal financial reporting, general ledger systems, and financial reconciliation.
  • 1 year of experience resolving financial abnormalities, performing root cause analysis, and preparing adjusting entries using GTAS and SF-133.

Desired Skills:

  • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) certification preferred.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience drafting audit-ready documentation.
  • Proven ability to review and enhance SOPs for clarity and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems such as FMMI and FSDW.
  • Familiarity with federal financial systems, including REE adjustments, NIFA reconciliations, and intradepartmental protocols.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex financial data, developing AR loss allowance methodologies, and managing competing priorities with strong attention to detail.

At Blake Willson Group, we believe in transparency and fairness in compensation practices. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $100,000 in the United States. Your individual salary within this range will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to your education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
