About the role

The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides essential services, including refuge, counselling, parenting support, and therapeutic interventions, to help children and families rebuild their lives.
As a Child Case Worker, you will work within a trauma-informed framework, applying your expertise in case management and therapeutic support. You will collaborate with the specialist family violence team to deliver holistic and confidential support, reduce safety risks, and advocate for children's rights.
This fixed-term, part-time role (hours negotiable) offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to meaningful change while receiving competitive salary conditions in line with the SCHADS Award, Level 5.
You will successfully
The Child Case worker applies an intersectional feminist analysis and deep understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, works with clients’ strengths, and utilises their expertise in case management and/or therapeutic models, skills, techniques, and modalities.
Providing holistic case management support and facilitate therapeutic interventions for children who have experienced family violence in coordination with the specialist FV case management team and Children’s Therapeutic Practitioner
Provide professional and confidential support children who have experienced or are experiencing family violence, in order to effectively reduce risks to their safety and enable their long-term recovery
Use professional risk assessment and best practice in safety planning in line with the FV Stream protocols, procedures and clinical governance framework.
Engage appropriate risk management follow-up as required.
You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications)
Degree qualification in social work, psychology and/ or counselling
Be a member and registered with a relevant accredited peak body (AASW, APS, ACA etc)
Experience in counselling children and families who have experienced trauma
Experience with women and children who have experienced family violence.
Strong history of working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and with a complex range of support needs.
Relevant child protection requirements are obtained – NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
