Indian River State College is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Asset Management Specialist to join our team. This position plays a key role in managing the life cycle of the College’s technology assets by maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting software and hardware audits, and coordinating equipment distribution. The ideal candidate will have experience with asset tracking systems, a strong understanding of IT hardware/software, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to ensure operational efficiency across multiple campuses.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position controls inventory levels by enforcing the use of standard processes, conducting physical counts, and supporting technological audits for the College. Duties include: supporting the asset life cycle of information technology hardware and/or software assets throughout the organization; maintaining and monitoring hardware/software inventory in the asset tracking tool to ensure compliance; and maintaining accurate and timely inventory of hardware and software assets within Service Desk
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains, receives, warehouses, and supports distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing processes and procedures; keeps an organized, neat, and clean warehouse, stockroom, and office environment.
- Maintains Asset Management files and inventory documents in accordance with IT Operation's processes.
- Organizes and maintains technological equipment stored in the warehouses and stockrooms; pulls stock and/or new items from the parts list for upcoming installations; and works with vendors to schedule repair, maintenance or other requested services.
- Tracks software entitlement in support of refresh as well as end of life processes and projects; investigates and resolves discrepancies to maintain integrity of software asset data.
- Receives and evaluates new and returned technological equipment; assigns asset tags as required; tests for damage and proper operation; and ensures all equipment information is updated in the inventory and Asset Management system.
- Identifies areas for cost savings through the identification of unallocated equipment, alternative support options, rationalization, and hardware deployment practices.
- Identifies and recommends hardware and software that has the potential to be harvested or replaced with lower cost alternatives.
- Identifies and reports on potential issues with asset tracking tool and supporting systems; develops and maintains related programs; and processes documentation.
- Audits hardware inventories for accuracy.
- Assembles, configures, and tests network work stations; travels to satellite campuses for equipment maintenance.
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate Degree in Computer Science or a related area; two (2) years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
- Knowledge of how to install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software in computing systems.
- Knowledge of assets and inventory systems and methods.
- Skill in organizing, prioritizing, and effectively using resources.
- Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.
- Ability to be accurate and detailed, gather and analyze information, and work independently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as medium work involving lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.
