Summary
Responsible for performing semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of streets and alleys.
Pay Range: $15.91 - $17.40 (Depending on qualifications and experience)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Transport materials between job sites.
Maintain flow lines in creeks and channels.
Pick up litter in creeks and channels.
Mow and trim weeds in creeks and channels.
Clean inlets.
Set storm sewer pipe for drainage improvement projects.
Attend safety meetings on a monthly basis.
Perform pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily work sheet for equipment operated
Keep work location and vehicle(s) in order.
Operate 12-yard dump truck (upon obtaining CDL).
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
No experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of and experience or training in construction and maintenance of street and underground drainage systems
Knowledge of safety practices and hazards standard to work area
Skill to operate various equipment and machinery
Ability to understand and implement verbal and written instructions
Ability to perform physical labor
Ability to comprehend written and oral work assignments and perform work as assigned
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a Tanker Endorsement or the ability to obtain within one year of hire
Valid Class C Texas driver's license
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
The incumbent works in a field environment including construction sites; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more several times daily.
