The Registered Nurse (RN) performs across the entire hospital with a focus on excellence
to assess all referred patients with difficult access for appropriate vascular access device (VAD).
The PICC RN places peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) and difficult peripheral
intravenous (IV) starts. The RN assists staff with troubleshooting catheter issues and provides
education and recommendation to staff on new and existing products and policies. The RN meets
standards of Practice, which includes managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment
in the hospital, and promoting collaboration with all members of the health care team.
Education: Basic nursing education required for RN licensure. Experience: Two years acute care experience. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama BLS required. ACLS and Peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) certification within 90 days of hire. Specialized Skills: Knowledge of sterilization procedures and infection control. Good communications and interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills and time management skills; ability to form effective working relationship with employees, management and physicians. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions. Good problem solving and organizational skills. Knowledge of supplies and equipment ordering and inventory control.
