This position completes assigned audit tasks performed as part of an ongoing program of periodic functional audits of Bell Bank. This position is primarily responsible for the completion of tasks assigned by the senior audit staff, which may include planning, organizing, developing, and implementing an audit program and procedures for all aspects of the general audit function for Bell Bank. This position will have frequent interaction with auditees, through which internal control training and support will be provided.
Responsibilities
Audit Program
- Assist with the completion of the annual audit calendar, utilizing a risk-based approach, ensuring all internal audits are conducted as required by the audit program or regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain the written audit program and update it on an ongoing basis to reflect changes in bank processes and/or changes in regulations and/or industry best practices.
Audit Procedures
- Review of accounting data for reliability and accuracy.
- Review of internal controls for efficiency and adherence with rules, regulations, and bank policy.
- Prepare written audit findings to be included in audit reports which are provided to management.
- Attend meetings with department managers to discuss audit findings.
- Maintain and develop audit skills.
Audit Coordination & Support
- Coordinate and track internal and external audit requests, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Support the execution of the internal audit program, including collaboration with external auditors, examiners, and third-party vendors (e.g., IT General Controls).
- Gather and organize documentation and data in response to audit and examination requests.
Reporting & Issue Tracking
- Assist in preparing audit reports, presentations, and dashboards.
- Monitor and track audit findings, issue remediation, and corrective action deadlines.
Internal Communication & Knowledge Sharing
- Serve as a resource for staff inquiries related to bank policies, procedures, and audit processes.
- Attend training sessions and departmental meetings to maintain a working knowledge of bank operations.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations
- B.A. in accounting, finance, or business-related fields; or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of experience performing auditing functions or regulatory compliance.
- Experience in the financial services industry – preferred but not required.
- Experience working with regulatory audits such as FDICIA, FDIC and others is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented and able to complete and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision, including ability to multitask as well as assess and change priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word, Visio, etc.) as well as AuditBoard, preferred, but not required.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, research and problem-solving abilities.
- Due to the nature of the audit function, must maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
