The Assistant Vice President, Underwriter-Property will report directly to the Vice President - Underwriter, with the responsibility to perform underwriting and supervisory functions, including account management services, primarily for Fortune 500 US and Canadian accounts with complex insurance needs.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Gathering of exposure information and subsequent risk assessment
Assuring integrity in underwriting of manuscript forms
Assisting in developing company underwriting policies and procedures
Interpreting and analyzing financial reports
Responsibility for the training and development of Property underwriting staff
Managing aggregate exposures for selected market/geographic segments as assigned by the SVP – Head of Department and providing of proper reporting to Chubb senior management
Keeping informed of new developments in underwriting activities and competitive practices and integrating learning into the product and the business plan
Assisting the SVP - Head of Department in the development of new products including policy wordings, rating, and regulatory issues
Developing and maintaining relationships with various industry, trade, and rating organisations. Attending industry fairs and trade shows to develop broker/customer contacts
At a minimum, the successful candidate should possess the following:
A Minimum of five years’ experience in underwriting a large North American or International book of property business (Fortune 500 accounts) including a production role with a proven record
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and negotiate terms effectively
Strong analytical skills and excellent problem solving / decision-making abilities
Experience chairing client meetings and excellent presentation skills
