MAINTENANCE PLANNING COORDINATOR

Reporting to the Superintendent - Planning, you will be responsible for providing planners with direction in the creation of work packs and schedules for plant breakdown, routine and shutdown maintenance. Assign, coordinate and manage resources for the efficient completion of shutdown and weekly maintenance, minor capital projects and maintenance support service.
- Coordinate the activities of the LMC and OEM maintenance planning teams at Lumwana
- Liaise with other departments to maximize production and maintenance effectiveness.
- Assist in the preparation of equipment, maintenance and spare part strategies plus develop systems to keep them up to date.
- To coordinate ongoing training to improve the skill levels of all members of the Planning team
- To develop and implement safety and work procedure systems to provide a safe work environment
- To ensure that maintenance activities are managed efficiently with a view to cost and production, and in accordance with sound work management procedures
- To meet any Statutory Responsibilities assigned by the General Manager, and oversee registered equipment inspections and servicing
- To play the key role in scheduling and coordinating plant shutdowns and major component change outs.
- Drive the development and utilization of best practice maintenance Business processes.
- Oversee the development, review, and execution of the long-term maintenance plan, aligning it with operational and life-of-asset strategies.
- Manage the preparation and submission of Planned Component Replacements (PCRs) and ensure alignment with OEM recommendations and site strategies.
- Coordinate updates and reviews of the maintenance strategy, including condition-based monitoring, task optimization, and preventive maintenance improvements.
- Lead Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis for major equipment to support asset replacement strategies and capital planning.
- Integrate long-term planning inputs from OEMs, site teams, and reliability engineers to enhance asset performance and availability over time.
- Collaborate with site leadership to align long-term maintenance strategies with production, budget, and asset management plans.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
- Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum five (5) years experience in a supervisory role in maintenance planning and scheduling of fixed plant machinery in the Mining/ Processing environment.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambian
- High levels of competency in maintenance planning, integrated scheduling, backlog management, shutdown management, budget development, asset master data, maintenance KPI reporting and continuous improvement techniques
- Competent in asset strategy development, life cycle, budgeting and costing
- Able to read, understand, and reference technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
- Able to drive a light vehicle and hold a current Zambian driver’s license or be able to obtain one.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Competent in incident/accident investigation
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
