MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Windows Engineer to join our team in Camp Springs, MD. This is a hybrid position.

This position is responsible for the design, development, integration, and operational support of large-scale Microsoft / Azure environments within a federal agency's infrastructure. This role involves extensive testing, scripting, and proactive monitoring to ensure the stability, performance, and security of these systems, while also supporting virtualization technologies and collaborating on cloud migrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes, designs, develops, and integrates hardware and software to support large-scale Windows environments with virtualization.

  • Performs engineering and operational assignments related to storage operations, backup operations, and virtualization software (VMware's vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V) on enterprise-level IT systems.

  • Proactively monitors systems for Disk/CPU/Memory/Network utilization and overall system health, and implements high availability for federal agency systems.

  • Tests large-scale Windows environments, installs operating systems, hardware, and software, and troubleshoots hardware and software hosting mission-critical applications.

  • Engages with product vendors for Tier IV support, collects metrics and performance statistics to optimize and troubleshoot application performance, and provisions virtual resources in all environments to provide technical assistance.

  • Performs production control activities, creates and manages routine maintenance window schedules, performs log reviews and server configuration changes, coordinates OS upgrades, patches, fixes, and testing with stakeholders, analyzes data to provide recommendations for application high availability issues, works with backup teams for backup and restoration tasks, and maintains and validates inventory for hardware/software support agreements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience with large scale Windows / Azure environments

  • Extensive experience in managing and securing complex enterprise infrastructure with a deep focus on Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory (ADFS, Group Policy), advanced privileged access management (Bastion Forests, JIT/JEA), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and systems management (Microsoft System Center).

  • Proficiency with modern hybrid-cloud environments and automation tools, including integration with major cloud providers (Azure, AWS, Google), management of network infrastructure (Cisco, Solarwinds, Infoblox), and orchestration using platforms like Ansible, Puppet, and PowerShell DSC.

  • Experience performing a variety of engineering and operational related assignments associated with Storage operations, backup operations, and virtualization software (VMware’s vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V) on a set of enterprise-level IT systems.

  • Familiarity with DevOps and ITIL processes

  • Demonstrated experience in automation of routine tasks and associated industry leading toolsets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Clearance Requirement:

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass USCIS background investigation (public trust)

Physical Requirements:

  • Office work, typically sedentary with some movement around the office.

  • Ability to travel (car or air) and present at conferences or meetings.


The projected compensation range for this position is $96,100.00-$159,900.00.
