About the Role
This role will sit within the USDS Product Policy Team and focus on deception, influence operations, and other inauthentic networks that undermine the integrity & authenticity of our platform. This role works cross-functionally to disrupt activity aimed at misleading our users, undermining the integrity of the public conversation, or manipulating our platform for financial, political, or ideological purposes.
Our team builds policy, product, and enforcement solutions to prevent, mitigate, and respond to these types of deceptive activities. This role will focus platform manipulation, spam, covert influence operations, inauthentic accounts, synthetic and manipulated media, and other deceptive activities. You will work closely with a variety of internal partners including Global Product Policy, Investigations, Intelligence, Product, and Data Science to ensure that TikTok is able to detect, triage, and prevent safety incidents.
This role may be exposed to harmful content as part of their core day-to-day functions, as well as in project work; in response to escalation requests; or by chance.
Some content viewed my violate our community guidelines which include but are not limited to bullying; hate speech; child abuse; sexual assault; torture; bestiality; self-harm; suicide; and murder.
In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, implementation and enforcement of policies to ensure an authentic and safe environment for TikTok users;
- Field and resolve urgent and sensitive deceptive behavior escalations in the US market;
- Collaborate with technical teams to review investigations into patterns of adversarial abuse, and marshal investigative findings as evidence for taking enforcement action;
- Work with product teams to mitigate scaled and network-level harms across our Community Guidelines;
- Engage with Legal and Public Policy teams to ensure compliance with key regulations;
- Stay up-to-date with trends relating to adversarial tradecraft, including tactics, techniques and procedures used by deceptive actors
