As Head of Communications, you will lead strategic communications at Benoy to enhance brand awareness and reputation across key audiences: our people, clients, industry influencers, and future talent. This is a 1 year fixed-term role which is pivotal in defining and delivering a communications strategy that aligns with our brand values, vision, and purpose. You will manage all aspects of external and internal communications, media relations, and public affairs, while acting as a trusted adviser to the senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Media
- Manage a PR agency team to drive media relations across the business.
- Manage and identify opportunities for our key spokespeople through press, events, and media—ensuring appropriate messaging is shared with them in advance.
- Identify PR opportunities and lead major media campaigns integrated with the wider marketing communications strategy, ensuring multi-media application.
- Work productively with internal stakeholders, clients, and partners to support media outreach and campaign activity.
- Nurture and influence relationships with prominent and relevant media contacts globally.
- Lead the creative approach to media engagement, adopting a tone and personality that reflect Benoy’s brand identity.
Communications
- Develop and deliver a global marketing and communications strategy (internal and external) for Benoy.
- Work with Senior Leadership to shape and develop authoritative, clear points of view on industry-wide and subject-relevant topics.
- Take ownership of corporate communications including credentials, key messaging, and external positioning materials.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the communications and marketing landscape, identifying areas of relevance and opportunity.
- Advise senior management on leadership communications and messaging to the global team.
- Provide strategic advice and data-driven insights to the Board, including regular reporting on Communications team activity and outcomes.
- Determine and manage the annual marketing and communications budget.
- Lead Benoy’s public affairs strategy, working to advance the company’s interests with UK and international decision-making bodies including Parliament, the EU, local government, regulators, and public institutions.
- Collaborate closely with the Business Development and Bidding Teams to support commercial objectives with compelling communications tools, messaging, and presentations.
Internal Communications
- Oversee all internal communications activity, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Ensure a regular and transparent flow of information between leadership and wider teams using effective communication channels.
- Implement and manage internal communication processes, establishing clear protocols and measurement frameworks to gauge impact and engagement.
- Align internal communications closely with external messaging to ensure a consistent brand story and voice across all audiences.
Skills and Experience Required
- Significant experience of leading strategic external and internal communications.
- Outstanding copy writing skills, attention to detail and an ability to deliver and edit high-quality and targeted content
- Understanding of design and audience targeting for different audiences, conveying messages effectively across a range of communications channels
- Excellent verbal and written communications and confidence to approach
- Experience of managing small and matrix led (PR agency) teams
- Ability to plan communications activity, prioritising projects in terms of strategic importance and available resources against communication budgets
- Effective manager, confident leader and outstanding team player, able to work independently to drive results to deadline
- Manager/ Senior Manager with 10+ years communications experience within an agency, financial services or professional services regulated B2B / B2B2C environment.
- Considerable experience in PR, leading on major media and external communication campaigns underpinned by strategic objectives and resulting in high-profile, targeted coverage
