Description

Westminster College is looking for a well-organized and student-focused professional to serve as the Field Placement and Certification Coordinator for the Education Department. This vital role supports the success of our Teacher Education Program (TEP) by managing clinical field placements and helping students navigate Missouri’s teacher certification process. We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to developing future educators.

Field Placement

  • Coordinate all field placements for courses such as EDU 101, Education Internships, Practicums, America Reads, and year-long student teaching.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between Westminster College and PK–12 school district partners.
  • Present placement procedures and requirements to students at the beginning of each semester.
  • Ensure students complete background checks, liability forms, and meet Missouri DESE regulations.

Student Progress & Program Support

  • Track each student’s progress from entry to graduation, starting in their first year.
  • Work with the EDU 290 instructor to schedule and track Teacher Education Program (TEP) interviews.
  • Keep records up to date on program milestones such as Praxis scores, interview results, internal assessments, and dispositions.
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair to ensure student records and tracking systems are accurate and current.
  • Partner with the Learning Opportunity Center to support students needing accommodations for licensing exams.
  • Observe Student teachers (Master's degree required)

Teacher Certification Guidance

  • Advise students on Missouri certification options, including initial, provisional, and add-on certificates.
  • Conduct training on the Missouri Educator Evaluation System (MEES) for student teachers, cooperating teachers, and college supervisors.
  • Collect and report MEES data each semester in collaboration with the TEP Coordinator.
  • Maintain and submit certification records to DESE accurately and on time.
  • Schedule and coordinate Praxis exam review sessions.
  • Share important testing information with students, including registration links, study resources, and voucher access.

Professional Collaboration

  • Attend department meetings and events; work closely with the Department Chair and TEP Coordinator.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, such as the Missouri Association of College Teachers of Education Conference (MACTE), to stay informed on clinical practice trends.
  • Maintain ethical standards, protect student confidentiality, and securely handle all student and certification data.


Job Requirements:

Education: Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, curriculum design, or a related field or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant education experience

Experience: Experience with teacher preparation and certification processes. Familiarity with Missouri DESE certification systems and policies

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and school partners
  • Passion for supporting student success and future educators
