Description

ABA Pathways, LLC is looking for a detail oriented, adaptable insurance billing professional who brings responsibility to their job and is looking to impact our Company as we grow! Essential Duties

  • Submit billing claims to insurance companies and Medicaid
  • Work directly with the Medicaid provider, insurance companies, and patients to get claims processed and paid
  • Recording/tracking of support records for billing
  • General ledger input and recording
  • Management of AR ledger

 

Job Responsibilities

Billing:

  • Obtain appropriate EOB's for clients ensuring secondary billing is done as needed
  • Create invoices for each funding source in QuickBooks
  • Submit claims into assigned funding source online system with appropriate/requested support 
  • Follow up with staff/funding source about billing issues and missing info 
  • Ensure all invoices are timely entered in the general ledger from primary source documents
  • Assist in obtaining funding source authorizations
  • Enter all insurance authorizations into EMR system
  • Verify insurance and benefits for new referrals
  • Manage the rebilling of all denied insurance claims within proper billing timeline and guidelines for funding source 

Accounts Receivable:

  • Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable
  • Responsible for managing the AR Aging report which includes noting updates on the aging, calling on known issues
  • Reconcile Remittance Advice/EOBs to General Ledger
  • Inform billing team of discrepancies in billing after reconciliation and follow up with biller to ensure discrepancy was resolved
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency throughout the accounts receivable process.

Training:

  • Cross-train billers as needed
  • Work with the Finance Director and CFO to organize and schedule quarterly training/refreshers/Q&A on billing best practices 
  • Identify areas of opportunity to enhance billing efficiencies 
  • Provide ongoing training for director level staff on obtaining authorizations

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen, evaluate and analyze financial billing transactions and trends and articulate solutions for improvement. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. In addition, this position requires the ability to lift files up to 20 lbs, open filing cabinets and bend as necessary, and remain seated at a normal desk for extended periods of time.  Employees are required to ensure they are otherwise standing up, moving, stretching or prepared to be as active as necessary to preserve their health and welfare.  


Position Expected Hours of Work/Environment

Pathways established a life/work balance policy with the goal of assisting staff in preserving personal time.  This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position. Typical hours of operations are between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM M-Sat, during which time there may be employee relations issues or questions.  The work environment is flexible and anticipates the ability to work from a  secure home office or PAC office location.  


Travel

This position may be required to travel to Pathways PAC locations and geographic locations from time to time, including travel to Pathways various divisions and locations as requested or necessary.


Required Education and Experience

Any related degree and eight to ten years of relevant and related experience or any similar combination of education and experience.


Preferred Education and Experience 

  1. Bachelor's degree in business accounting or related field.
  2. 10 years of revenue cycle experience
