NorCal Ambulance is looking for a Fleet Mechanic to join our rapidly growing team!  We want to hear from you!


Hours: Full time; 5 days a week (Weekends required)

**Early Start Time Negotiable***


Pay: $32 - $37 (depending on experience)


Locations: May Vary*


Reports to: Fleet Maintenance Manager 


Required:

***Must have 3 years minimum experience

 


Basic Functions: 


Work directly under the supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Manager to perform routine and advanced diagnostics and repair of NORCAL Ambulance fleet vehicles.  



Responsibilities:


Work as a mechanic on NORCAL Fleet vehicles.  Ensure vehicle: operability, reliability, and safety.  Diagnose, track, and resolve vehicle issues throughout all vehicle systems.

  • Track fleet services required and completed
  • Ensures compliance with regulations that associate with Fleet activities
  • Helps develop, maintain, and ensures adherence to Fleet budget
  • Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility
  • Perform repairs and maintenance as needed
  • Track and record service invoices
  • Record and file vehicle certifications
  • Work with Operations to schedule and conduct vehicle inspections
  • Assist the Support Services Department with fleet issues and management
  • Vehicle repairs and inspections as applicable 
  • Other duties as assigned


 

Skills and Knowledge: 
  • Background in automotive maintenance, technical school/ASE certification or equivalent preferred
  • Self-directed, problem solver,  with the ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Previous experience in Ambulance maintenance preferred. 
  • Have a strong aptitude for interpersonal communication and cross functional collaboration. 
  • Be able to lift and store inventory and drive company vehicles.  
  • Ability to  prioritize, work towards a deadline, without sacrificing  attention to detail or service quality.  
  • Must be capable of utilizing and maintaining digital inventory systems.  
  • Must have training as required to perform adequate and safe work on NORCAL vehicles.  
  • Must be capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Knowledge and skills required to handle sensitive documents. 
  • Knowledge of computer basics, vehicle mechanics and parts, vehicle emergency equipment and use, and training as mechanic with knowledge of emergency vehicles.

Education/Experience: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 


Language Ability: 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as: 

  • safety rules
  • operating and maintenance instructions
  • procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors or employees. 


Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in: written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations


Certifications/Licenses: 


Valid: California Driver’s License, Medical Examiner’s Certification, Ambulance Drivers Certification, DMV Driving Record in good standing in accordance to insurance company standards. 


Equipment: To perform this job successfully, an individual must use a variety of equipment including gurney, wheelchairs, and other medical and ambulance related devices. Individual must also be able to use vehicle related tools and equipment such as:

  •  a jack, spare tire(s), batteries, lights, etc.
