About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated and analytically rigorous Bookkeeper to join our Finance team. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in shaping the financial trajectory of a rapidly growing healthcare company. You'll work closely with leadership to drive strategic decision-making through financial planning, forecasting, performance analysis, and market insights.


The Bookkeeper will be responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring that all records are up-to-date and accurate. They will play a vital role in supporting financial operations and providing reliable financial data.


What you'll do

  • Maintain records according to generally accepted accounting principles including the recordation of general journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Manage all day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger maintenance.
  • Check and verify source documents such as invoices, receipts, computer printouts.
  • Generate financial statements for management review.
  • Prepare and submit sales tax filings and support year-end tax documentation.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Assist with monitoring cash flow and tracking budget performance to support financial decision-making.
  • Collaborate with outside accountants on tax planning and audit support.
  • Help streamline and maintain accounting procedures.
  • Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Proven bookkeeping or accounting experience (3+ years preferred)
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, or other accounting software
  • Strong understanding of debits, credits, journal entries, and GAAP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills a must
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, effectively manage time and prioritize projects to meet established deadlines and support daily operations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and handling sensitive information
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to solving problems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word, and Point of Sale systems

Nice-to-have

  • Certification as a bookkeeper or accounting technician (e.g., CPB or AAT)
  • Experience working in healthcare
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting solutions or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Multitasking skills for managing multiple accounts and projects simultaneously
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables and using formulas

Valor’s pay band range for this position is $25 to $28 per hour. This salary range may include multiple levels. Your level is based on our assessment of your interview performance and experience, which you can always ask the hiring manager about to understand in more detail. Salary is just one component of Valor’s total compensation package for employees.
