Job Summary:
The Director of Analytic Consulting leads the strategy, operations, and delivery of mPulse’s client-facing analytic consulting function. This role is accountable for overseeing a team of consultants and principal consultants who transform healthcare data into strategic insights for health plan and provider clients. The Director ensures analytic consulting work aligns with client goals, demonstrates business value, and supports mPulse’s engagement strategy. They drive team performance, standardize delivery methodologies, and collaborate cross-functionally with Data Science, Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to ensure quality, efficiency, and innovation in analytic engagements.
Director-level responsibilities are in addition to serving as a dedicated Senior Consultant to a select number of clients. Senior Consultant responsibilities are focused on directly interacting with clients and using healthcare data to tell stories that drive those clients to meaningful action. This role will be working to support multiple accounts and is responsible for working closely across functional teams to meet the population health, care management, provider management, and consumer experience needs of our clients, current and prospective. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing data and assisting in the communication of resulting insights and recommendations to our health insurance and provider organization clients. You will assume the “go to” position on formal (presentations) and informal (regular client communications, such as via meetings and email) communication with clients within these solutions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage the reporting and analytics lifecycle for usage of mPulse’s research and software products.
- Manage projects and collaborate cross functionally, enabling teams to identify opportunities to standardize and streamline work, including but not limited to identifying and overseeing implementation of technology and/or process improvements to.
- Lead, monitor, and establish visibility and communication of high effort ad-hoc requests to be supported through product enhancement (new features, re-engineering existing features, etc.)
- Leverage your existing healthcare subject matter knowledge internally and as part of the analytic consulting team to our clients.
- Investigate business problems ranging from population health management to healthcare consumer experience.
- Work closely with analysts on the Analytics team to design, develop, and implement analyses that convert large datasets and complex concepts into usable information and insights
- Develop visually effective reports, dashboards, and presentations for clients.
- Help deliver recommendations to clients in an engaging way to drive clients to meaningful and decisive action.
- Ensure customer success by working closely with account managers in the client implementation and management process.
- Work with the client analytics team on standard and ad-hoc client-specific data tasks involving utilization and health care cost data as well as data from non-traditional, innovative sources.
- Address client specific data issues and work with client implementation team and data operations/engineering team to resolve.
- Define and improve analytic consulting frameworks, tools, and storytelling approaches.
- Coach and develop consultants and principals, building domain expertise and consultative acumen.
- Guide solution design, supporting scalable approaches to client-specific challenges.
- Serve as escalation point for complex analytic consulting engagements.
Skills/Abilities/Experience:
- Demonstrated supervisory and management experience.
- Proven ability to translate complex data into business insights and strategic recommendations.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL, Tableau, and healthcare analytics concepts (e.g., utilization, quality, member experience).
- Familiarity with CAHPS, HEDIS, HOS, and other payer-facing performance programs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience building repeatable processes, templates, and analytic methodologies.
- Skilled at cross-functional collaboration and balancing stakeholder priorities.
- Proven skill in stakeholder management with the ability to work cross functionally, influencing effectively, and overcoming barriers.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent ability to effectively communicate with technical and business colleagues and clients to make complex ideas understood.
- Strong understanding of relational data, ETL practices, and OLAP databases
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in healthcare analytics or consulting, with 3+ years in a formal leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health Informatics, Public Health, Economics, Business, Statistics); Master’s degree preferred.
- Deep experience with payer analytics, population health, or healthcare engagement strategy.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 10 lbs.
