  • Student workers must reside within the State of Washington. Remote work outside of Washington will not be permitted.

 

Job Title:    Student TA – GAM-300 and -350 (Kaplan), F25-S26

Reports to:   Andrew Kaplan 

 

This position is a "hybrid" position - many of its responsibilities will be online, but responsibilities on campus may be required as well.

 

Essential Functions 

  • Assist the instructor with grading and game team support outside of lab hours, and maintain effective and ongoing communication with instructor, game teams, and other TAs, as well as other duties as assigned by the instructor.
  • Students will arrange with instructors to schedule work hours outside of GAM lab hours. These will be variable based on student class schedules and GAM 300 student needs, so they may be irregular.
  • Assist the instructor and GAM 300 / 350 teams/members as requested by the instructor. This may take place online, as well as in game lab areas, meeting rooms, or other applicable areas as designated by the instructor. Responsibilities may include direct technical, design, and artistic support to GAM 300 / 350 teams and students, equipment setup and/or operation, facilitating student presentations, answering student questions, reviewing submissions, etc.
  • Meet with the instructor weekly for performance feedback and duty modification.
  • Accountable for tracking and reporting the amount of time worked

 

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES 

Qualifications include:

  • A grade of at least a “B” in GAM 300 or GAM 302 and GAM 350 or GAM 352.
  • Available to work up to 8 hours per week from September 2, 2025 through December 13, 2025 (fall semester) and from January 5, 2026 through April 25, 2026 (spring semester).
  • Vacations and illnesses can be accommodated within reason; please keep your instructor informed.
  • Possess a high level of motivation and self-organization.
  • Possess a positive attitude toward learning and a willingness to help others excel.
  • Be comfortable interacting with other students on an instructional level as a mentor in production, technical, design, and/or artistic domains.
  • Timely attendance with complete focus during assigned hours.
  • Available via Teams chat and/or voice for scheduled meetings and work sessions.

 Students may be asked to work or meet on campus, outside of lab hours.

 

Experience: 

  • Ideal candidates will have acted before in a leadership position (GAM team Producer, GAM team Creative Lead, GAM team Technical Lead, a separate TA/Tutor position, etc.).
  • They should be effective in working with different styles of communication.
  • They should have the ability to work well remotely.

     

    Expected dates of employment:    September 2, 2025 – April 25, 2026

    Expected number of hours per week:   8

    Wage Range:

    $16.66 - 17.75 per hour, depending on number of terms worked at DigiPen

    Working Conditions:

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and fine finger dexterity. May need to lift up to 25 lbs. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.

     

     

    DigiPen Student Employee Academic Requirements:

    • Are currently a Matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology
    • Good Academic Standing – not on Academic Warning as defined in DigiPen Course Catalog
    • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
    • Have taken and passed GAM 300 or GAM 302 and GAM 350 or GAM 352 with a B or better

    Requirement Exceptions:

    It is possible to still be selected for a position with DigiPen if you do not meet the requirements above, so don't let that dissuade you from applying!

    Once you have applied for – and the supervisor decides to offer you – a position, we will contact the necessary managers (Supervisor, Department Chair, and/or the Dean of Faculty) to complete and sign off on an Academic Waiver form, depending on which requirements need to be waived.
