Carpenter Canada Co. has an immediate opening for a Machine Operator (1st shift - 6:00 am to 2:30 pm) at our Calgary manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the safe operation of assigned equipment or machine used in manufacturing of components and/or finished products for internal and external customers as defined by a daily production schedule.

Your additional responsibilities as Machine Operator will include:

  • Conduct pre-use inspection of the assigned production equipment.
  • Follow work instruction and production schedule.
  • Operate assigned equipment safely.
  • Maintain relevant records in the SAP system.
  • Conducts quality checks as required to meet customer's specifications.
  • Perform basic maintenance of the equipment as required.
  • Print stock and shipping labels or enter production figures into SAP.
  • Ensure all finished products are labeled correctly.
  • Perform housekeeping on equipment and surrounding work area.
  • Operate heat bond iron to seal packaging material.
  • Help perform routine simple maintenance on machinery.
  • Ensure work area is clean and orderly by disposing of departmental waste.
  • Practice Kaizen principles of continuous improvement.

Skills and Requirements

  • Major duties and responsibilities of the job can be satisfactorily performed with a high school education or GED.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Able to read and interpret a tape measure.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing environment is an asset.
