Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Product Compliance Manager to join our Compliance team. This entry-level role is ideal for someone eager to grow their career in product safety and compliance within a fast-paced, multi-brand retail environment.
You will support the Compliance Manager in ensuring that all group brand products—sold under names such as Sports Direct, Jack Wills, House of Fraser, and Dunlop—meet regulatory requirements and are safe for sale in the EU and UK markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the ongoing review and understanding of EU/UK standards and directives related to product safety and compliance.
- Maintain and evaluate technical files provided by factories, ensuring documentation is accurate and meets compliance standards.
- Draft and issue Declarations of Conformity (DoC).
- Organise third-party testing with accredited laboratories for due diligence purposes.
- Conduct quality reviews and assist in investigating any product-related safety concerns.
- Communicate directly with suppliers to advise, guide, and correct compliance-related errors in documentation or testing.
- Review testing protocols to ensure they are suitable and aligned with current government regulations and compliance requirements.
- Assess and sign off on product documentation such as artwork, test reports, material lists, and risk assessments.
- Evaluate whether a product is fit for general sale based on safety and legal compliance.
- Block high-risk group brand shipments as needed, particularly those requiring CE marking, and verify supporting compliance documentation.
Qualifications
No prior experience is needed in this role, but the ideal candidate will have:
- Strong attention to detail with a passion for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow within a compliance-focused role.
- Technology literate, comfortable working with spreadsheets, digital systems, and databases.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when dealing with suppliers and internal teams.
- Prior administrative experience is desirable but not essential.
