We are looking for a Quantitative Analyst to join our team! In this role, you can leverage your academic training, applied experience, and passion for analytics to deploy a range of econometric, statistical, and predictive analytic methods in support of our clients’ utility sector investments in clean energy, including energy efficiency, demand response, distributed energy resources, and time-varying rates programs. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with and learn from more senior researchers and can be a stepping-stone to graduate school or a long career in the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and analyze large datasets using R and/or Python
  • Apply appropriate analytical and statistical techniques to answer research questions
  • Exhibit critical thinking and curiosity including considering how your technical work fits within the larger context of the project, the client, and our industry
  • Produce high-quality analytical outputs (e.g., visualizations, tables) and contribute to client reporting
  • Conduct quality control of your work and apply effective practices to minimize errors
  • Participate in peer code review process
  • Prioritize work appropriately and proactively communicate issues to supervisor and project managers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0-4 years of experience OR advanced degree with 0-2 years of experience (depending on relevance)
    • Required degrees: Economics, statistics, data science, quantitative social science, or other quantitative field
    • Coursework in econometrics, statistics, machine learning, or predictive analytics
  • Strong programming skills in R
    • Experience with the tidyverse package suite or data.table
  • Passionate about clean energy and wants to advance adoption of clean energy solutions through creative and rigorous application of data analytics
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated track-record of thinking critically about your work
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with people at all levels of statistical knowledge in our organization
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously and flexibly

Preferred but not required:

  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Experience with version control software (e.g. Git) and collaborative code development
  • Experience with Databricks or Spark
  • Coursework or applied experience in the energy industry, including energy efficiency, demand response, and/or distributed energy resources programs and initiatives
  • Coursework or applied experience with utility sector economic analysis including program and policy evaluation, program cost-effectiveness, load forecasting, and valuation of distributed energy resources
  • Experience with preparation and analysis of utility load data

Salary and Hybrid Environment:

  • Salary range: $75,000 – 105,000 depending on experience.
  • This is a hybrid role with a mix of weekly in-office and remote work out of one of our offices. Strong preference for our Waltham, MA or Portland, OR locations. Also open to La Jolla, CA.

**Please note: Depending on experience, we are open to hiring someone at the Associate Quantitative Analyst (entry level) or Quantitative Analyst (advanced degree and/or some relevant work experience) level.
