The opportunity

The Environmental and Physical Sciences Department at Southern New Hampshire University is looking for candidates for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education, this is a full-time on-site position at the Manchester, New Hampshire campus that will start for the fall 2025 semester. You will teach courses in Chemistry and other areas of specialization as assigned, including both lecture-based and lab-based courses, conduct original scholarship, and provide institutional service to the department, school, campus, and university.

What you'll do:

• Prepare and deliver content for assigned courses including introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses. The teaching load is four 3-credit courses per term. Class sessions are either 75 minutes meeting twice a week or 150 minutes that meet once a week.
• Assess student work and provide feedback.
• Coach in a studio environment where students may work in teams on real-world projects.
• Use a Learning Management System to support courses and host course materials.
• Hold five hours of office hours throughout the week. Hours for class prep and student assessment are expected to make up the balance of the full-time load.
• Conduct original scholarship and provide institutional service.

What we're looking for:

• PhD in Chemistry
• Two years of demonstrated lab management and lab teaching experience.
• Experience developing and implementing chemistry lab safety protocols in both chemistry and organic chemistry settings
• Practical knowledge of chemistry skills

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $60,000.00 - $85,000.00. Actual offer will be based on experience, skills, degree, discipline and other business and organizational needs.
