Job Summary
The Wealth Strategist I serves as a subject matter expert in the area of wealth transfer strategies for ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals and multi-generational families. Provides consultative and analytical support to more senior Wealth Strategists while working towards obtaining the experience and expertise necessary to manage projects and collaborate with internal and external advisors independently.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists more senior Wealth Strategists in executing and implementing sophisticated wealth transfer strategies via complex wills, trusts, partnerships and LLC operating agreements, shareholder agreements, buy-sell agreements, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements.
- In conjunction with more senior Wealth Strategists, works closely with and provides advisory and consulting services to clients and advisors to clients such as accountants, attorneys, insurance advisors, and investment managers, across the entire spectrum of both legal and tax aspects of sophisticated wealth transfers techniques.
- Participates in fiduciary risk management for fiduciary relationships. Calls on the assistance of more senior Wealth Strategists as necessary. Supervises work delegated to Wealth Strategies Coordinators and Client Service Associates. Provides training to internal team members related to areas of expertise.
- Provides financial planning to UHNW individuals and multi-generational families. Develops detailed financial projections associated with recommended wealth transfer strategies including detailed analyses and illustrations of consequences of recommended wealth transfer strategies with extensive consideration and impact of access to trust funds, impact of inheritance and other elements.
- Represents Synovus in professional association settings such as the State Bar Association and Estate Planning Councils. Maintains visibility of Synovus Trust Company and in the professional advisors community. Assists more senior Wealth Strategists in preparing and delivering presentations to professional groups as part of continuing education programs.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
- Performs other related duties as required.

QualificationsMinimum Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
Minimum Experience:
- Recent law school, MBA, MACC, LLM in Taxation or MTX graduate with zero (0) to four (4) years of relevant experience assisting ultra-high-net-worth individuals and multi-generational families.
Certifications:
- Active Member in good standing of state bar (applicable to attorneys only).
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Functional knowledge of both state and federal income tax and wealth transfer tax regimes
- Functional knowledge of state law regarding both wills and trusts and the administration of estates and trusts
- Strong process and project management capabilities
- Strong communication, legal writing and presentation skills
- Proficiency using word processing and spreadsheet software programs
