We are looking for a Public Relations Administrator to join our team in Orange County!

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3+ years of experience in community outreach, advocacy, event coordination, or related fields (nonprofit, policy, civic engagement, or government preferred) 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills 
  • Deep understanding of AAPI communities and/or commitment to racial and social justice 
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities 
  • Public speaking, facilitation, or community-facing experience is a plus 
  • Fluency or familiarity with an Asian language is a plus but not required 
  • Flexible schedule with occasional evenings or weekends required 
  • Excellent legal writing, speaking, and organizational skills 
  • Experience or familiarity with AAPI community preferred  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients 
  • Bilingual fluency in an AAPI language strongly preferred 
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently 

Qualifications

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Reporting to the Vice President of Orange County, the Public Affairs Administrator advances AJSOCAL’s visibility, partnerships, and impact across Orange County and Los Angeles County. The role coordinates public affairs and outreach efforts, supports strategic partnerships and high-profile events, prepares project proposals, and manages donor engagement. This position ensures regional initiatives align with Orange County organizational priorities while maintaining rigorous professional standards. This community-facing position suits a highly organized, relationship-driven professional committed to advocacy and equity for the AAPI communities. 

 

50% External Affairs & Outreach Support 

  • Identifies and maintains relationships with regional officials, city/county agencies, and community partners to build AJSOCAL’s public presence.  
  • Support outreach to AAPI-serving nonprofits, grassroots groups, bar associations, chambers, and partner organizations across immigration, housing, health, education, and anti-hate work. 
  • Attend community events, public meetings, and coalition gatherings to represent AJSOCAL and present critical pathways to services. 
  • Coordinate follow-up with community partners to support long-term relationship development and visibility. 
  • Manage fundraising goals and establish metrics to measure progress and impact. 
  • Manage and track large scale events and projects, including partner engagement and internal updates to amplify AJSOCAL’s regional impact in Orange County. 
  • Partnering with local media and social media avenues to bring attention to key AAPI service needs and policy issues. 

 

20% Event & Special Project Coordination 

  • Lead planning and logistics for frequent public events such as open houses, roundtables, community events and other development events. 
  • Coordinate outreach, invitations, setup, materials, and note-taking to execute special projects. 
  • Manage and support special projects, such as community response efforts or regional roundtables to grow rapid response capabilities.  

 

20% Communications, Development & Messaging Support 

  • Drafting periodic regional outreach materials, talking points, and event collateral. 
  • Maintain updated partner lists, regional impact data, and visibility content (e.g., photos, quotes, success stories) in order to build AJSOCAL’s organizational profile in Orange County. 
  • Coordinate with communications and development teams to ensure OC outreach aligns with AJSOCAL’s broader messaging and fundraising goals. 
  • Provide systematic analysis and control to streamline communication, outreach, and marketing to internal partners and external stakeholders.   

 

10% Managing Intern/Volunteer and Facilitating Administrative Logistics 

  • Provide logistical support to the Orange County office, including calendar coordination and materials management. 
  • Support onboarding and coordination of interns or volunteers who assist with outreach and engagement tasks. 
  • Operational facilitator between AJSOCAL departments and external groups to maintain organizational alignment. 
  • Other duties as assigned
