Solution Overview & Opportunity Background

As the biopharmaceutical industry continues to go through a period of rapid change and evolution, TGaS’ Solutions are provide strategic support in the four critical functions included in the Pricing & Contracting Practice ecosystem are:

 

  • Pricing & Contracting Strategy Implementation
  • Proposal Development & Analytics
  • Contract Administration, and
  • Government Pricing Calculations & Reporting

 

The Pricing & Contracting Benchmark Solution helps biopharmaceutical companies navigate in a challenging and ever-changing environment. TGaS Advisors provides a comprehensive method for optimizing the managed markets functions. The customized peer set based benchmark will assist clients to:

  • Benchmark organizational structure & resources (headcount & spend)
  • Define department standards pertaining to roles and responsibilities.
  • Evaluate key business processes and provide capability analysis and comparison for each function in the Pricing & Contracting ecosystem (including systems and data)
  • Optimize clients existing contract management systems, data and innovative technology solutions.
  • Provide appropriate gap analysis observations, implications and prioritized action recommendations.

Position Responsibilities

Reporting to the VP, Pricing Contracting and Analytics, the Director PCA role will leverage our existing client relationships and will seek growth through innovation and the addition of new clients & services.  This solution will be targeted to Pricing and Contracting leaders in bio/pharmaceutical companies at the Sr Manager/Director levels and above.

  • Partner with our current solution/practice leaders/directors to further develop and enhance (a) the existing pricing and contracting solution, (b) a go-to-market strategy, and (c) promotional plan for this offering.

The specific duties of this role include, at a minimum, the following:

  • Sell and generate new business with existing and new clients, identifying opportunities to engage/upsell where appropriate.
  • Lead and manage Benchmarks and Special Projects, including in-depth interviews with functional leaders, executives and stakeholders.
  • Assist with optimization projects at client sites, including in-depth interviews with functional leaders, executives and stakeholders. 
  • Assist in the development of new programs and services for our clients based upon market need.
  • Support Clients with membership obligations, such as conducting industry landscapes, providing urgent support, facilitating semi-annual invitation-only summits, etc.
  • Analyze client information / TGaS Benchmarking database and think strategically to come up with comprehensive recommendations that address customer needs and “tell” a cohesive story.
  • Prepare client reports summarizing improvement opportunities for client’s organizational structure, resources, roles and responsibilities, business processes, capabilities and systems. (Benchmark Projects)
  • Participate in the Internal Business Planning process.
  • Actively participate in the sales process, identifying opportunities to engage/upsell where appropriate.  Assist in the preparation of sales proposals and SOWs.
  • Build strong partnership with Clients and establish synergistic relationships with client VPs, Directors and Practice Principal(s).
  • Actively participate in the development of new programs and services for our clients based on market needs.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry changes and trends in the dynamic space of Pricing & Contracting.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned biopharmaceutical professional with broad and deep experience in the contracting and pricing key functional areas (pricing & contracting strategy, proposal development & analytics, contract admin, gov’t pricing. Additional experience in other related functional areas (i.e. Market Access, Finance, Compliance, etc.) is a plus. Prior management consulting or advisory service experience is a plus. In addition, the candidate will have a proven track record of career advancement, staff and program management, as well as the ability to be a strategic thinker. The position requires a self-driven individual capable of developing and maintaining relationships for continuous client engagement.

  • A bachelor’s degree is required: an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 7-10 years’ experience in roles of increasing responsibility in biopharmaceutical pricing and contracting.
  • 5 years’ experience leading a team, managing a project, or equivalent
  • Sound understanding of the Contract Management Functional areas’ roles and responsibilities
  • Experience implementing a contract management system as a plus. Previous experience in management consulting or offering advisory services to the pharmaceutical industry (preferred).
  • Knowledge of pricing/contracting budget management, SLA and metrics.
  • Knowledge of pricing/contracting strategies for key biopharmaceutical channels such as PBM/Payor, Medicare Part D, Medicaid, GPOs and alternative channels. 
  • Knowledge of systems, data and innovative technologies that support piecing and contracting functions.
  • Experience implementing a contract management system as a plus.
  • A documented track record of developing and managing effective relationships with internal stakeholders and/or clients. 
  • Experience translating commercial objectives, strategies and tactics into pricing and contracting strategies, plans, operations and measurable results.
  • Comfort working at the highest levels of client organizations, interacting closely with top executives and business unit leaders.
  • Excellent communication skills: group presentations, verbal and writing abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to understand and critically examine research data. 
  • Experienced in producing and analyzing syndicated market research studies and reports.  
  • A desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment, work independently and comfort with significant responsibility and accountability.
  • Ability to create and innovate.

Trinity’s salary bands account for a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets and market demand for skills; level of experience and training; specific qualifications, performance, time in role/company, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $170,000 - $210,000. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus.
