Moderna is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer, SAP Core Financials to join our innovative Warsaw location. Staying at the forefront of technology trends, you will deliver innovative, transformative digital solutions that support Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and AP/AR teams. Success in this role requires deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA Financial Accounting (FI) and integrated tax solutions such as SAP Document & Reporting Compliance (DRC), plus the ability to align system capabilities with business needs across a rapidly scaling global enterprise.
Training available for packages SAP professionals are not familiar with.

Moderna’s growing Digital Finance team to engineer and optimize our global SAP S/4HANA core-financial landscape. You will be the hands-on contributor for General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and integrated tax solutions—including SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC). Partnering with Finance, Treasury, Tax, and external partners, you’ll design, build, and support robust, compliant processes that scale with Moderna’s rapid growth.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Your key responsibilities will be:
SAP S/4 HANA FI Configuration Ownership: Act as system expert for core SAP financials such as FI-GL, FI-AA, FI-AP, FI-AR, Bank Accounting, withholding tax and SAP DRC; configure, enhance, and support these modules through the full lifecycle.
Integrated Tax & E-Invoicing: Design and sustain global indirect tax and e-invoicing processes via DRC and integrated technologies; partner with Tax and external authorities to maintain compliance.
End-to-End Integrations: Lead and govern interfaces with Procurement, Treasury, Tax and Accounting ensuring efficient processing and reconciliation.
Solution Delivery: Translate business requirements into functional specs, oversee development, run UNIT/SIT/UAT, and shepherd changes through release cycles and hypercare.
Continuous Improvement: Identify automation opportunities (RPA, AI-driven match & clear), streamline financial-close and AP/AR processes, and champion data-quality initiatives.
Governance & Controls: Embed SOX/GxP controls, maintain runbooks, support audits, and drive global standardization of finance processes.
Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as primary liaison for Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and shared-service teams; coach super-users and deliver training.
Global Rollouts & Localization: Execute localization for country-specific legal and regulatory finance requirements (e.g., SAF-T, FEC, Sii) and support global SAP template rollouts across new entities and geographies.
Cross-Module Expertise: Collaborate with digital SAP Supply Chain, Order-to-Cash, Development, and Integration teams to align and support cross-functional SAP processes.
Your Responsibilities Will Also Include:
Manage small- to medium-sized continuous-improvement projects and global rollouts.
Author functional specifications and coordinate with with various developers understanding and test coordination.
Support statutory, management, and tax reporting requirements across SAP and non-SAP tools.
Monitor system performance/data integrity, identify risks, and implement proactive mitigations.
Oversee external consultants, offshore teams, or implementation partners for configuration and development efforts.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Finance, MIS, or related field— or equivalent experience.
8 + years configuring and supporting SAP FI in global environments (S/4HANA preferred).
Proven delivery of GL, Fixed Assets, AP, AR, Bank Accounting, and tax/e-invoicing solutions (SAP DRC, SAF-T, VAT, etc.).
Experience integrating SAP FI with procurement, treasury, banking, and external tax engines via IDoc, API, and ISO 20022/SWIFT standards.
Solid understanding of financial close, intercompany, and SOX/GxP compliance requirements.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
SAP certifications in S/4HANA Financial Accounting and/or SAP DRC.
Hands-on implementation of global e-invoicing mandates.
Exposure to finance connectivity, BlackLine/Concur/Kyriba/OpenText VIM ecosystems.
Experience with OpenText VIM is helpful, training available
Pharmaceutical/biotech or other highly regulated industry experience.
Familiarity with RPA or AI applied to finance operations.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead cross-functional workshops in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
