What You’ll Do:
The Intermediate Level Fleet Technician is an off-site position responsible for managing and performing maintenance and repairs of a wide range of equipment, including aircraft ground support equipment (GSE), for that location. This includes power units, fuel trucks, lifts, tugs, tow bars, hydraulics, and other essential GSE assets. The technician will be in direct contact with the customer and serve as a primary day-to-day representative on site.
They will identify, perform, and manage major and minor repairs with little to no supervision, in accordance with Federal, State, and corporate guidelines. The Intermediate Fleet Technician will deliver the highest level of mechanical and electrical expertise across all vehicle and equipment systems. This position will handle technically complex diagnostics and repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
This role requires significant experience and expertise in the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of aircraft ground support equipment (GSE), making it a key focus of the technician’s responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or its equivalent required
• Post-Secondary vocational education strongly preferred
• Ability to understand and adhere to Company Policies in all areas
Training/Skills Required:
• 4+ year's experience in heavy truck and/or aircraft ground support equipment maintenance
• Prior 3rd-party or company-provided training
• Advanced knowledge and full understanding of heavy-duty electrical systems and GSE diagnostic tools
• Able to identify root cause of failures/conditions on all systems and components, including GSE-specific systems, and perform repairs as needed
• Major component rebuild and replacement experience in engine, transmission, and axle systems
• Must be CFC 609 Certified
• Welding and light fabrication experience
• Acts as a mentor to lesser qualified Technicians
• Actively seeks and participates in available training to enhance personal development and remain current with GSE and heavy-duty equipment repair practices
• Participates in specific training programs as prescribed by VTRL
Compensation:
• $30-$36 hr. depending on skills and experience
• On-site position
