  • Base salary of 103,185 + 17% Superannuation

About the Opportunity

The Gadigal Centre is the University of Sydney's dedicated student centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, providing academic, pastoral and cultural support services to Indigenous students to help them achieve their full potential.

As an Advancement Officer at the Gadigal Centre, you will liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in study at the University, supporting them in all aspects of university life. You will work under the direction of the Advancement Manager and within a team of Advancement Officers to serve as the first contact point for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide learning guidance, information, advice, and case-management support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students

  • facilitate student interaction with peers, mentors and academics

  • support student engagement  events and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students

  • liaise with others (Accommodation, Financial Assistance, Disability Services etc.) to ensure services are utilised by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

About you

  • tertiary qualifications in any discipline or or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience required

  • knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures

  • demonstrated first-hand lived experience and engagement in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities, and/or working with students

  • computer skills, including MS Office and CRM systems

  • experience working in the tertiary education preferred, but not essential.

Work Rights: you must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University. Similarly, your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements. If you do not meet these conditions, the University may take any necessary step, including the termination of your employment.
