Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Classified Solutions (CS) is seeking a well-qualified Network Communications Engineer specialized in VMware network virtualization to join its dynamic team of technical professionals in the Roy, UT area.
Roles and responsibilities will include:
- Maintain smooth operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs.
- Configure and maintain WMWare NSX to ensure network virtualization and security posture across multiple networks.
- Plan, design, configure, and install network hardware in support of customer requirements.
- Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, switches, gateways, etc.
- Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
- Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
- Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short and long-range planning for in-house systems.
- Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems.
- Configure, install, and maintain network devices to include routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Implement and troubleshoot LAN technologies such as VLANs, Trunking (port tagging), Spanning-Tree, and Port Security.
- Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems; periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.
This position may be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal level, depending on years of experience required.
Principal Level Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience, or Master's degree and 4 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent and 10 years of additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
Senior Principal Level Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience, or Master's degree and 5 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent and 12 years of additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
Remaining Basic Qualifications for Both Positions:
- Active DoD Secret level security clearance and the ability to maintain the required clearance as a condition of continued employment; the selected candidate will be required to obtain a Top Secret DoD security clearance based on customer and/or program requirements.
- The ability to obtain Special Access Programs (SAP) within a period of time as determined by program and/or customer requirements, as a condition of continued employment.
- Current CompTIA Security Plus (or higher) certification.
- Current VMware certified Professional – Network Virtualization certification.
- Experience designing and maintaining LAN, WAN, and Cloud based networks.
- Experience with managing routing protocols over Enterprise level environments.
- Experience with configuring, installing, and maintaining network hardware from Cisco and Palo Alto.
- Experience configuring, installing, and maintaining encryption devices (TACLANES) as well as operating General Dynamic’s GEM One and/or GEM X Enterprise Encryptor Management server.
- Experience with implementing security best practices to include management of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ICE) and Cisco Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System Plus (TACACS+).
- Experience with operating and maintaining Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM).
- Demonstrated experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, Opnet, SolarWinds, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IS related field with 6 or more years of experience.
- Active DoD Top Secret level security clearance and the ability to maintain the required clearance as a condition of continued employment.
- The ability to obtain Special Access Programs (SAP) within a period of time as determined by program and/or customer requirements, as a condition of continued employment.
- Previous experience troubleshooting network procedures and best practices; experience with network challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis, and system architecture design.
- Current CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) or Cisco Certified Network Professional Security or equivalent security certification
- Current VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Network Virtualization Deploy certification
- Skilled with troubleshooting network procedures and best practices; experience with network challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis and system architecture design
- Skilled designing and maintaining LAN, WAN, and Cloud based networks
- Skilled with managing routing protocols over Enterprise level environments
- Skilled with network hardware from Cisco and Palo Alto
- Skilled configuring, installing, and maintaining encryption devices (TACLANES) as well as operating General Dynamic’s GEM One or GEM X Enterprise Encryptor Management server
- Implement and troubleshoot WAN technologies such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, and telco circuits (T1, T3, OC3).
- Interface regularly with customers and manage customer installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments.
- Design and implement an enterprise network; recommend data, voice, or video network investment decisions to management and customers based on results of independent assessment of current and future network performance, stability, and network management issues.
