Job Description: Barge Foreman – Marine EPC Project (Qatar)
Position Overview:
The Barge Foreman will
oversee all marine construction and offshore operations from a barge/vessel for
a large-scale Marine EPC project in Qatar. This leadership role requires strong
technical knowledge of marine construction, safety compliance, and crew
management to ensure efficient execution of subsea installation, dredging,
piling, or pipelay operations.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Barge Operations Management
· Supervise daily barge activities
(loading/unloading, anchoring, positioning, and stability).
· Coordinate with Marine
Superintendents, Dive Teams, and Engineers to execute project plans.
· Ensure proper maintenance of barge equipment
(cranes, winches, mooring systems).
✔ Construction Supervision
· Oversee pipelay, piling, dredging, or
structure installation from the barge.
· Manage crane operations, rigging, and
material handling safely.
· Monitor weather conditions and
implement contingency plans.
✔ HSE & Compliance
· Enforce Qatar maritime laws, IMCA, and
company QHSE policies.
· Conduct daily toolbox talks, risk
assessments (JSA), and emergency drills.
· Maintain barge logbooks, incident
reports, and inspection records.
✔ Crew & Subcontractor Management
· Lead barge crew (deckhands, operators,
welders) and ensure productivity.
· Liaise with client representatives,
surveyors, and third-party inspectors.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
· Certifications:
o STCW certifications (Marine/Offshore Safety).
o Barge Master/Marine Foreman certification
(preferred).
o OPITO/BOSIET (for offshore work).
· Experience:
o 10+ years in marine construction, with 5+ years as Barge
Foreman/Supervisor.
o GCC/Middle East experience (preferred).
o Familiarity with pipelay, piling, or
heavy lift barges.
