Associate International Tax Accountant (E5451) - 250237: KNW-B20
The overall purpose of this position is to ensure good standing with US and global taxing jurisdictions as it pertains to IEEE's operations.
Primary responsibilities of the Associate Tax Staff Accountant include:
• Tax reporting and compliance - non-profit, income tax, sales and use, international
• Basic tax research
• Interface with volunteers and staff
The role reports to a manager level and manages [0] direct reports.
This position works under consultative direction and general guidelines by following established procedures.

As defined in IEEE Policies, individuals currently serving on an IEEE board or committee are not eligible to apply.

• Basic tax research
• Interface with volunteers and staff

Key Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance: • Accurate preparation and timely filing of assigned tax returns: ◦ Forms 990, 990-T, 990-PF and related state charitable and income tax returns ◦ Consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns ◦ State and local sales and use tax returns ◦ International indirect tax filings (VAT, GST, JCT, etc.) ◦ International tax returns/reporting (Forms 8858, 5713, 5471, etc.) ◦ Other required statutory reporting
- Tax Planning: • Improve efficiency and controls • Complete basic reconciliations
- Problem Solving: • Review and resolve issues that arise with the enterprise transaction tax system or government taxing jurisdiction and coordinate duties for the tax engine • Assist with indirect tax coordination for IEEE’s global conference business • Respond accurately and timely to inquiries from internal and external customers
Qualifications
Education- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience accounting or tax Req
- Less than 2 years tax and/or accounting experience Pref
- CPA, or JD with tax/finance tax background Pref
- Non-profit, international, and indirect (sales and use or VAT) tax experience a plus.
- Effective interpersonal skills to ensure that tax compliance plans are created that address the needs and known constraints of the IEEE enterprise.
- Ability to analyze compliance requirements, identify problems, design appropriate reporting solutions, and solve problems with moderate supervision.
- Must demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism when dealing with sensitive and/or confidential matters.
- Good communication and organizational skills. Ability to execute and improve work processes.
- Must be able to work in a deadline oriented environment.
- Technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges. Proficient in various computer applications including tax software (direct and indirect tax applications), Google suite products, and Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to build relationships and constructively interact with the team, internal IEEE departments and volunteers.
- Works independently with moderate supervision.
