Lead Engineer

As a Lead Software Engineer you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers, driving architecture, process, standards and steering the technical direction of our products.

A need to be hands-on and focused to ensure our product improves from a customer and technical perspective. We expect engineers to take ownership, have the desire of curiosity, passion, a driven, enthusiastic mentality, to be proficient in algorithms problem solving, and crafting scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant architectures.

Effective communication is an attribute we care deeply about, as an engineer, you and your team will move in a fast-paced engineering environment to achieve outstanding results.

You'll deliver

• Leadership of an engineering team inclusive of people management, with the goal of a high-performance, self-sufficient, autonomous team
• Learning, growth, and mentorship of the engineering team to accelerate their career-growth and encourage them to progress
• Architecture, design, building, and delivery of highly-available, always-on, zero downtime API products and solutions
• Facilitation and collaboration with engineers, product owners, and other colleagues to seek exciting and results-oriented problems for delivering value
• Ownership of the production operation and monitoring of products inline with SLAs
• Clear, maintainable code that will scale
• Challenge team processes, looking for ways to improve them

About You

• A strong product focused mentality, especially API engineering. We like API’s!
• Ability to lead and develop engineering teams from newbies to high-performant engineers
• Care about quality and know what it means to ship high-quality, human-readable, well-tested code and the importance of TDD
• Self-motivated and value team success over personal success
• Diplomatic, emotionally intelligent, have an ability to listen and are open to others’ points of view
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. You can talk tech to non-tech people

What you’ll bring

We need knowledge, experience + expertise in:

• Leading and developing engineering teams
• Designing and implementing high-quality cloud software solutions, i.e. Azure, AWS, GCP
• Utilising a variety of cloud architectures
• Consistency, reliability, scalability of systems without downtime
• T-shaped engineer, but major in C#
• Knowing how to write readable, idiomatic, and maintainable C#
• Leading and implementing sophisticated API products
• Agile methodologies

And would love you to know or learn:

• Designing and building highly-scalable API products that meet the high demands of millions of users
• System design, design patterns, API design and build of large scale distributed systems in the cloud, from IaaS, Containers to PaaS. We use Azure, we love serverless and containers!
• How to launch API’s to both internal and external consumers
• FinTech
• Consumer lending or credit card issuing
• Experience building Payments related software
