Job Description: Job Coach for an Employee with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and highly motivated Job Coach to provide one-on-one support to an employee with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in a workplace setting. The Job Coach will be responsible for empowering the employee to succeed in their role by teaching them the necessary skills, promoting independence, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is preferred.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in special education, psychology, social work, or a related field is a plus.
- Skills:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a strong desire to help others.
- Ability to think creatively and solve problems in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of various teaching methods and behavioral support strategies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and perform other physical tasks as required by the job.

RequirementsDuties and Responsibilities:
- Individualized Support: Develop and implement a personalized support plan based on the employee's specific needs, learning style, and job requirements.
- Skill Development: Teach job-specific tasks, including but not limited to, using equipment, following procedures, and interacting with colleagues and customers.
- Workplace Integration: Facilitate social integration by assisting the employee with communication, professional etiquette, and building positive relationships with coworkers.
- Task Analysis: Break down complex tasks into smaller, manageable steps to ensure the employee can understand and master each component.
- Behavioral Support: Provide guidance and strategies to manage workplace behaviors, promote self-regulation, and address any challenges that may arise.
- Communication & Collaboration: Act as a liaison between the employee, management, and coworkers to ensure clear communication and a supportive work environment.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of the employee's progress, including skills learned, challenges faced, and successful outcomes.
- Advocacy: Advocate for the employee's needs, ensuring they have reasonable accommodations and a fair opportunity to succeed.
- Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to handle and de-escalate any workplace crises or emergencies in a calm and professional manner.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess the employee's performance and adjust the coaching plan as needed to promote continuous growth and independence.
